Our Coaches

Here at Sandton Seals Swimming, we have dedicated coaches with a passion for the sport. Below follows some more information about each coach.

Liz Haupt

HEAD COACH

Liz only learned to swim at age 7, overcoming a fear of water thanks to an incredible Learn-to-Swim teacher. That experience sparked her lifelong passion for stroke development and beginner swimmers. She quickly rose through the ranks, breaking KZN and SA records in breaststroke and competing at Senior Nationals by age 13. Liz captained the KZN team and earned Springbok colours before accepting a swimming scholarship to the U.S.

After returning to SA, she transitioned into coaching, opening the Wahoo Aquatic Centre with her husband Steve. There, she led the swim program structure and co-founded a development initiative to teach disadvantaged children to swim — an effort that earned national recognition. With nearly 30 years of coaching experience, Liz remains passionate about helping swimmers of all levels discover their love for the water.

Skye La Grange

Skye is a dedicated and passionate instructor who’s loved water from a young age. Growing up by the pool, she swam competitively in primary school and continued for fun in high school. After teaching dance to children in 2022, she completed her Learn-to-Swim qualification in 2023 and also holds a First Aid certificate.

She brings patience, kindness, and structure to every lesson, prioritising water safety above all. Skye works with all ages and finds joy in watching swimmers — young and old — grow in confidence and skill. Her goal is to continue learning and eventually become a preschool teacher, but for now, she’s living her dream of helping others fall in love with swimming.

Rotondwa Mutheiwana

Rotondwa is a dynamic and enthusiastic instructor who brings a love for swimming and working with children into every lesson. She completed her Lifesaving South Africa certification in 2024 and has experience working with kids as a camp counsellor, creating safe, fun learning environments.

She has a strong background in open water swimming, including completing the Dolphin Mile in Durban, and believes swimming is about more than just strokes—it’s about building confidence, resilience, and pride. Rotondwa is dedicated to helping every child feel at home in the water.

Chantelle Kuperus

Chantelle has dedicated over 10 years to helping swimmers of all ages and skill levels reach their goals. Her teaching style is patient, fun, and encouraging — creating a space where swimmers can feel confident and motivated.

Chantelle’s own swimming journey started at age 12 when she unexpectedly fell in love with the sport at her first school gala. That passion quickly grew as she competed in pool, lifesaving, and open water events. Today, she brings that same love for swimming to the pool deck, helping each swimmer discover their own lifelong connection to the water.
